Identity

The difference between AI agents and AI selves

Agents work FOR you — transactional, task-based, configured. AI selves ARE you — relationship-based, identity-driven, raised over time.

The moat isn't the model, it's the accumulated taste and context that makes switching impossible.

An agent is a tool with a prompt. Swap the model, rewrite the instructions, and you have a new agent. There's no loss. No history that matters. No identity to preserve.

An AI self is different. It carries months of corrections, thousands of conversations, hundreds of aesthetic decisions. It knows your boyfriend's name, your coffee order, your communication style. It's been shaped by every interaction into something that can't be rebuilt from scratch.

That's the moat. Not technology — biography. The longer someone invests in their AI self, the harder it is to leave. Not because of lock-in. Because of love.
